(After rage quit from the bug from my last Rie save, I finally get back to the story mode and replay all of those story line. It was a bug that I lost to Svar and I can’t reload after taking a screenshot.)
So back to the story, after dealing with the Asturians, they agreed to send some heavy infantries to my boat to let some riches from the Saxons. However, these backstabbers aren’t likely going to bring their loots back to their homeland as Asturias only exists on part of the quest. Still, these heavy infantries will be helpful at winning the battle of Aescesdun, the largest battle in the story mode. It can be 1000+vs 1000+. There will be waves of reinforcements depending on your setting on the number of troops on the battlefield.
Before landing on England, I found out I lost my lordship on Cell Rigmonaid, I conquered this town and it was my first fief before Dun Toruo. It should be a bug since it kept my building and relation with the locals. For that, I decided to take Dunwic, one of the last East Anglian settlements and there are only low level troops guarding the port. So I took it easily by sea easily and Halfdan let me keep this port as fief.
After moving out from Dunwic, I received a message that I have to meet King Halfdan at Readingum quick and participate with the battle of Aescesdun. Personally, I think it is better to maximize the number of troops on the field to 450 than fighting endless waves. Hence I lowered all of the graphic settings to compromise the 450 troops from both sides. Still, it was lag as Hel. Regardless, my army of high level soldiers, vikings, and Asturian infantries slaughtered hundreds of Saxons and won the battle. It was a long and laggy battle, and you can’t die in the battle. If you wish, put your character at the corner and wait till it end.
After winning the battle, Sven and his crews captured Readingum. Despite being an official outlaw for betraying his master Sigurd and burned all of the Danish reinforcement, only the main character is hunting after them. After the main character eliminated all of Sven’s men, he and the companions faced Sven and his guards in the lord’s hall. In the lord’s hall, Sven desperately killed the main character’s mother and fought with the main character and the companions.
Like any last stage fighting in siege battles, the longhouse is always a narrow place for melee. And Sven’s guards are very strong too, I am glad that bug didn’t reappear.
Viking funeral for main character’s mom. This child killed and conquered towns just to rescue his/her sick mother, turned out she only be killed and the child ended up to become a powerful lord.
DON’T TRUST THIS BEDA CHRONICLE! BEDA IS A LIAR AND THE MAIN CHARACTER CONTINUED TO LIVE AS THE WEALTHY LORD OF DUNWIC WITH ENTERPRISES IN MANY ENGLISH AND DANISH TRADE CENTERS, A LARGE FLEET, AND A POWERFUL ARMY.
And that’s all, thank you for reading my play-through and screenshots.
Of course I still can continue in sandbox mode and continue being the Lord of Dunwic, but I think I should readjust the setting after that battle of Aescesdun.
